In the midst of this period of exuberance and artistic splendour, the Kremsmünstererhof stood as a testament to past elegance and prosperity. Its history is linked to Rupert Trinker. This textile merchant was one of the most important traders in Wels. His business activities extended from southern Poland to the southern German trading towns and as far as Naples. Trinker had branches in Venice and Bolzano and was a true trading magnate. During this time of new beginnings and expansion, he built the Kremsmünstererhof, which today is an impressive example of the combination of Renaissance and Rococo architecture.
