Wels Zoo

In the “Tiergarten Wels”, the Wels Zoo, children and parents as well as all other visitors are able to experience the diversity and blaze of colors of over 100 different animal species in a magnificent park landscape.
The modern “Tiergarten” is at 75 years the oldest zoo in Upper Austria and about 28,000 m² big. Families can experience exciting moments with animals from all over the world. The small modern zoo, according to the motto "small, but oh my", puts emphasize to the natural design of the habitats. The “Mühlbach”, a little stream, flows through the lovingly designed park and forms numerous ponds, bulges and wet biotopes. This interplay of old trees, waterways and parkland creates a unique ambience, complemented by a modern playground. Here the whole family can have fun and relax.

A special focus in the Tiergarten Wels is on native and exotic birds. The breeding has a more than 60 years old tradition in this institution. Representatives of the bird world from Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Australia can be found here. Not only the Parrots that imitate the voices of the people, but also the Hornbills, Kingfishers, Turakos and Laughing Hens have proved themselves as favorites of the children.

Of great interest are certainly also the many offspring, which there are regularly in the Tiergarten Wels.
